DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MAIN FRAME COMPUTERS AND SUPER COMPUTERS

------------------------------------------------------------------------
With respect to Chapter 1 of Computer Hardware-Introduction to a Computer, we would like to explain in simple terms, the difference between main frames and Super computers.
Well, a lot of people get confused between Main frame computers and Super Computers. It is always regarded as “some sort of special hi-fi computer which I anyway don’t use”.So to put it in simple words-
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Main Frame Computer, basically are involved with supporting more users on a single system. They can support, hundreds of users, working simultaneously on a single computer.

Super Computer is a general term for special computers, which work extremely fast. They work at speeds, which cannot be imagined by us Desktop or Laptop users. They can easily execute several millions of instructions per second. They are used for High end research purposes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) Main frame Computer is extremely good at executing several programs simultaneously. It may not execute them very y fast, but can easily support several ones running at the same time, at a very good processing rate. It is better than the super computer in this ability.

A Super Computer can execute a single program at lightning fast speed, but is not very good at handling multiple programs at the same time. So rather, Super Computer can execute several programs one after the other, in a very quick manner, but is not so efficient if several of them are run at the same time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, if you want to get it in 2 words, next time there is talk of Main Frame Computers and Super Computers, and you start getting confused, just get this into your head-

Main Frame Computer = ”Multiple Program-User Support” &

Super Computer = ”Super-fast processing speed”.
